2C-X derivatives belong to the group of phenylethylamines. 2C-B, also called Nexus (4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine), is the best-known 2C-B derivative.​​

Depending on the derivative. 2C-B: Nasal 2–max. 20 mg, oral 5–max. 50 mg [1] . 2C-X derivatives are effective even in small amounts. 2 mg more or less can make a big difference. The individual dose should be approached gradually, starting with small increments.

Effect

Perceptions and feelings become more intense, mild euphoria may occur, and sexual desire can increase. From 15–20 mg (10 mg when snorted), the effects usually take on a hallucinogenic character [1] . The boundaries between inside and outside dissolve. Often, rapid, colorful patterns and luminous fields are perceived around objects and people. With music, a coupling between what is heard and what is seen can occur (synesthesia).

All 2C-X derivatives have a similar effect. However, they differ in their duration of action and dosage.

Onset of action

Swallowed after 30–60 minutes, snorted after 5–10 minutes.

Good To Know

Mixtures with particularly risky interaction potential

  • Mixing downers (alcohol, medication, ketamine, etc.) and 2C-B can lead to nausea/vomiting and depressive moods.

  • MAOIs can enhance and prolong the effects of 2C-B. Furthermore, this combination can trigger life-threatening serotonin syndrome. MAOIs are found in some antidepressants and plants. [1]

  • MDMA (the so-called Nexus Flip) – this combination can trigger seizures.

  • Mixing 2C-B with cannabis can increase its effects and lead to paranoid thoughts. [2]

  • Opioids (painkillers)

Risks and side effects

The pupils dilate, blood pressure rises, and cramps, rapid heartbeat, panic attacks, nausea, and dizziness can occur. Body temperature may fluctuate uncomfortably between hot and cold. Some users report gastrointestinal problems, and in isolated cases, mild allergic reactions may occur (coughing due to increased mucus production). Particularly at high doses, disorientation, confusion, and feelings of anxiety, even to the point of fear of death, can occur.

Long-term risks

There is no reliable information on this. However, it can be assumed that, as with other psychedelics, latent psychoses can be triggered.

Safer Use

  • 2C-X derivatives work depending on the setting and are only suitable for parties to a limited extent.

  • Pay attention to set and setting: Only take 2C-X derivatives in places where you feel comfortable and safe; refrain from using them if you don't feel well or are afraid of the drug.

  • Never consume 2C-X derivatives alone and only if you feel mentally and physically well and are well rested.

  • Do not add more, dose carefully.

  • Drink enough water during the trip (500ml per hour).

  • When using nasally, follow the safer sniffing rules. Caution: 2C-X derivatives can cause an extremely painful burning sensation in the nose, depending on their chemical form.

  • People with cardiovascular diseases and diabetics face an increased risk when consuming 2C-X derivatives.

  • 2C-D, 2C-E, and 2C-H belong to the same group of substances, but differ considerably in terms of dose and duration of action.

  • 2C-X derivatives are often sold in pill form, which can lead to mislabeling and confusion.

  • If possible, use a drug checking service. Mislabeling of pills and powders is a recurring problem!

  • Take breaks from consumption of several weeks to process what you have experienced and avoid building up a tolerance.
