Don't Drug and Drive
Driving under the influence of drugs impairs your ability to drive, even more so if you consume several substances within a short period of time. Psychoactive substances affect your perception and reaction time in a lasting way and for longer than you realize (after-effects of the substances).
Do not drive or operate any vehicle, including bicycles, under the influence of psychoactive substances. Don't endanger yourself or others!
-
When on psychedelics, you should avoid busy roads, even if you are traveling on foot.
-
If you have consumed drugs, you should refrain from driving for at least 24 hours (duration of effect + after-effects).
For all other substances, an expert assessment is carried out (Art. 16 of the Road Traffic Control Ordinance). The experts consider the three pillars:
-
Police findings
-
medical findings
-
and results of a forensic toxicological examination.
Swiss Criminal Law
In Switzerland, all narcotics, except cannabis, are strictly punished. Even mere possession of a narcotic will be reported to the Office for Administrative Measures. This can consequently have consequences for your driver's license, regardless of whether the offense falls under road traffic legislation.
