Recommended daily dose for adult men: 100 mg; depending on efficacy and tolerability, the dose can be reduced to 50 mg or increased to a maximum of 200 mg.

Viagra ®

Take approximately 1 hour before sexual activity.

Recommended daily dose for adult men: 50 mg; depending on efficacy and tolerability, the dose can be reduced to 25 mg or increased to a maximum of 100 mg.
Maximum dose: 100 mg/day

Cialis ®

Take between 30 minutes and up to 36 hours before sexual activity

Recommended daily dose for adult men: 10 mg; depending on efficacy and tolerability, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 20 mg.
Maximum dose: 20 mg/day

Effect

The four active ingredients avanafil, sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil belong to the group of PDE-5 inhibitors and have a vasodilating and blood pressure-lowering effect. With sexual stimulation, they enhance the effect of the body's own substances, increasing blood flow to the penis and thereby triggering an erection.

Risks and side effects

The most frequently described adverse effects in patients treated with the aforementioned preparations are headache, visual disturbances, flushing, dyspepsia (indigestion or upset stomach), blocked nose and dizziness.

If the erection lasts longer than 4 hours, a doctor should be consulted immediately, as it can lead to damage to penile tissue and permanent loss of potency.

Safer Use

  • Medications should only be taken as prescribed by a doctor. Mixing medications can be fatal! If mixing medications is unavoidable, at least one accompanying person or sexual partner should be informed about the combined use so they can act in an emergency.

  • If you bought your medication on the black market, go to a drug checking center and have it tested.

  • In Switzerland, tablets containing the active ingredient Sildenafil up to a dosage of 25mg can be purchased without a prescription after consultation at a pharmacy.

  • Avanafil, Sildenafil, Tadalafil and Vardenafil must not be taken together with HIV protease inhibitors (e.g. Indinavir or Ritonavir).

  • Avanafil, Sildenafil, Tadalafil and Vardenafil should not be taken with poppers or other nitrates.

  • Avanafil, Sildenafil, Tadalafil and Vardenafil are not suitable for women.
